Two dogs have been killed by a wolf in Fort Good Hope, Northwest Territories, Canada, and community members suspect that more dogs may have been attacked. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) suspects that a single wolf is responsible and is setting up snares to remove "problem wolves" from the community. ENR spokesperson Mike Westwick advises residents to keep bones, hides, and other animal remains inside to discourage wolves from approaching, and to avoid travelling alone. Wolf aggression towards humans is rare, but aggression towards dogs is most likely during the breeding season and denning period. Owners are advised to keep dogs inside or on a leash while on a walk. ENR is actively patrolling and encourages residents to report any sightings.
