The village of Tanana in Alaska has been visited by an old black lone wolf that has taken at least four sled dogs from a mushing family. The wolf broke the chain of one dog and ate the neck of another to haul them away. The villagers are concerned and on edge as there is no way to protect the dogs if they are not behind a fence. The wolf was first spotted in Tanana in February of last year, but it wasn't until August when the predator attacked its first prey. Wolf attacks on dogs usually happen when a wolf is starving, especially if it lives alone without a pack. Keeping an eye on dogs is the main thing residents can do to protect them.
