5 dogs attacked by lynx in Inuvik since late November, says official

Five dogs have been attacked by lynx in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada since late November, according to renewable resources officer Toby Halle. The attacks have occurred in various areas of the town, with four of the dogs off-leash at the time of the attack and one approached while tied up. Halle said the behaviour is unusual for lynx, which are typically reclusive animals. The department is hoping traps set for foxes will also attract the problem lynx, but Halle warned licensed trappers to be cautious to avoid accidentally catching dogs. None of the dogs involved in the attacks have died, according to Halle.
