Palmer Library suffers roof collapse

The roof of the Palmer Library in Alaska collapsed on Wednesday night, causing significant structural and water damage. No one was injured in the incident, and all occupants of the library self-evacuated. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and a structural engineer will assess the building on Thursday. The fire department believes the collapse was due to the unusually large amount of snowfall this winter. The library, which was built in 1985, will be out of service while the Matanuska-Susitna Borough considers its next steps.
