Storm Left Only a Few Inches of Snow

A snow storm hit Butte, Alaska on December 31, 2016, but it was quick and heavy, lasting only two hours and leaving only 4-5 inches of snow. This information was part of a compilation of posts received as a request for situation updates about the winter storm that struck Alaska in late December. Observation: The snow storm earlier today was quick, heavy, and over by 10am. After lasting about 2 hours, we only got 4-5 inches of snow out here at Hunter Creek, by the Knik Glacier. Thought we'd get more, but the storm passed through fast.
