By using the LEO Network website you signify that you understand and agree to the following terms of Use.

Terms of Use

Please read these legal Terms Of Use before using the LEO Network. If you make a contribution to the LEO Network or otherwise access or download information from the LEO Network, you accept and agree to comply with the terms and conditions set forth in the Terms of Use. The purpose of the LEO Network is to raise awareness about environmental change, and to help connect LEO Network members with technical resources that can help them to address the environmental challenges they face. Please note that any use of information must be approved by LEO Network Administrators. You can contact us at ask.leonetwork@gmail.com . Members of the network authorize sharing of the information and images they have posted, publicly with other LEO Network members.

Modifications of the Terms of Use will be effective immediately upon posting unless indicated otherwise. Your use of the LEO Network indicates your full acceptance of the Terms of Use in its then-current form each time you use the LEO Network. If any provision of the Terms of Use may be in conflict with any applicable law or regulation, the applicable law or regulation will supersede the conflicting provision.

Reservation of Rights to the LEO Network

LEO Network reserves the right to review and revise at any time any portion of its system. LEO Network reserves the right to not post an observation or consult or to remove an observation or consult from the map and site. LEO Network also reserves the right to make editorial changes in order to meet the standards for LEO Network publication. Users of LEO Network agree to share their observations with members of the LEO Network and to contribute with other members and co-authors in the development of a LEO Network post. Posting information to LEO Network assumes the right to publish photos, name, and other content to the LEO Network site and associated content and map.

LEO Network is created and established through a grant to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). For suggestions or questions concerning the LEO Network, please feel free to contact us at ask.leonetwork@gmail.com

Limited right to use the LEO Network

Your right to use the LEO Network is limited to raise awareness about significant environmental change, and to help connect LEO Network members with technical resources that can help address the challenges of environmental change. You do not have the right to abuse or violate laws or otherwise harass others through the use of the LEO Network.

You grant a right to use your contributions on the LEO Network.

By sending a written contribution to the LEO Network, you grant a perpetual, royalty-free, unconditional license to ANTHC, and any successor organization, to publish your contribution on the LEO Network, as well as disseminate it to other parties, and to discuss or reference it in any publications related to or arising out of the LEO Network. You also agree that the creators of the LEO Network and ANTHC have the right, but not the obligation, to edit or remove any contribution, or to merge it in text or concept with other contributions, in its sole discretion.

The LEO Network and its users, including government agencies, depend on contributors for the accuracy of submissions. The creators of the LEO Network or ANTHC take no responsibility for errors or inaccuracies in any submission. Deliberate misrepresentation of information by a user or contributor may constitute a violation of law, and if it is serious it will reported it to appropriate government authorities.


As a user of the LEO Network you are prohibited from the following:

  • transmitting any material that, intentionally or unintentionally, violating any applicable local, state, national or international law, or any rule or regulations promulgated thereunder;
  • Using the Network for any activity which adversely affects the ability of other people or systems to use the LEO Network, this includes attacks against another network host or individual user or harming or attempting to harm other persons, businesses or other entities, including efforts to interfere with or cause disruption of other network users, network services or network equipment;
  • Transmitting any material that threatens or encourages bodily harm or destruction of property or harasses another;
  • Making fraudulent offers to sell or buy products, items, or advancing any type of financial scam;
  • Transmitting or facilitating any unsolicited commercial email or unsolicited bulk email;
  • Accessing or attempting to access, the accounts of others, or to penetrate, or attempt to penetrate, security measures of the website or another entity’s computer software or hardware, electronic communications system or telecommunications system, whether or not the intrusion results in the access, corruption or loss of data;
  • Transmitting any material that infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other proprietary rights of any third party, including, but not limited to, the unauthorized copying of copyrighted material, the digitization and distribution of photographs from magazines, books or other copyrighted sources, and the unauthorized transmittal of copyrighted software;
  • Collecting or attempting to collect, personal information about third parties without their knowledge or consent; or

Unauthorized individuals, institutions and other entities may not act on behalf of the creators of the LEO Network or the ANTHC or any of its affiliates. Unauthorized individuals, institutions and other entities may not use its property or solicit contributions without express authorization from creators of the LEO Network and the ANTHC. As a user of the LEO Network, you may not violate or attempt to violate the security of the LEO Network. You are not permitted to decompose, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble or otherwise deconstruct all or any portion of the LEO Network or content.

The LEO Network may be modified from time to time at the sole discretion of the creators of the LEO Network or ANTHC.


The materials and information obtained from this website is for informational and reference use only and shall not constitute the rendering of medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice by the ANTHC or any of its affiliates. The information published in the LEO Network are those of the contributors or other author(s) and are to be construed as being approved or endorsed by the funders and creators of the LEO Network and do not, necessarily, reflect the official positions and policies of the funders, or ANTHC. Any mention of products or trade names does not constitute recommendation for use by funders nor by ANTHC.


This information is provided to explain our online information practices and the choices you have in the way information is collected and used on this Network. LEO Network and ANTHC respect the right to privacy. It is understood that certain individuals may not want to be annoyed with unwanted emails, phone calls, or mailers. To the extent of applicable law, LEO Network and ANTHC will not collect for commercial purposes any personal identifiable information unless you choose to provide it.

Applicable Laws

The Terms of Use and your use of this LEO Network are and shall be governed and construed in accordance with laws of the United States and the laws of the State of Alaska, without regard to its rules concerning conflict of laws. In the event of any conflict between foreign laws, rules and regulations and those of the United States, the laws, rules and regulations of the United States shall govern.

The Information We Collect

LEO Network requires a password and membership to access information from our system. Certain functions, such as online information or registration forms, require you to voluntarily submit personally identifiable information, including: name, organization, address, and telephone number. We reserve the right to use this information internally, including but not limited to research purposes, quality assurance and correspondence with you .We will not sell, share, rent, or otherwise reveal this information to any third party except as required by law, or to address issues of noncompliance.

How We Use the Information

We do not provide or forward personally identifiable information to any organization for commercial purposes. E-mail addresses and other personal information that you enter on this site will be used solely for their explicitly specified purpose. We respect and are committed to your privacy.

Portions of LEO Network contain links to other websites. Upon leaving our website, we do not make any representations and disclaim any representation made of other websites. You should consult the other website’s privacy statement for more information, as those practices may differ from ours.

Limited Liability

The LEO Network funders, creator and ANTHC are not liable for any actions taken in reliance of the Content on the LEO Network. To the extent permissible under applicable laws, no responsibility is assumed for any injury and/or damage to persons or property as a matter of products liability, negligence or otherwise, or from any use or operation of any ideas, instructions, methods, products or procedures contained in the LEO Network. IN NO EVENT WILL ANTHC, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, SUBCONTRACTORS, AGENTS, LICENSORS AND REPRESENTATIVES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE FOR ANY DECISION MADE OR ACTION TAKEN BY YOU IN RELIANCE ON SUCH CONTENT. The additional disclaimers included in the various publications available via the LEO Network are hereby incorporated by reference. ANTHC is not responsible for any technological problems or any impact that they may have.

All or any portion of the LEO Network may not be available and may not function properly at any time. We make reasonable efforts to avoid technological problems, but at any time the LEO Network may have and may cause technological problems such as viruses and other damaging computer programming routines or engines. We take reasonable security precautions when using the internet, telephone or other means to transport data or other communications, but we disclaim liability for any interception of data or communications. We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the LEO Network is secure but we do not guarantee the security of the LEO Network. ANTHC is not liable for any damage or injury caused by the performance or failure of performance of all or any portion of the LEO Network. ANTHC is not liable for any defects, delays or errors in or resulting from your use of the LEO Network.

ANTHC is not responsible for information on any third-party web LEO Network that is referred in, or accessible or connected by hyperlink to, the LEO Network. ANTHC makes no representations or claims as to the quality, content and accuracy of the information, services or products which may be provided by such resources, and specifically disclaims any and all warranties, including but not limited to, the implied or express warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular usage, application or purpose.

User Responsibility and Hold Harmless

You will be responsible for any liability to LEO Network or ANTHC that arises out of your wrongdoing, negligence or misconduct, including any breach of the Terms of Use or your use of this LEO Network.

You hereby agree to indemnify, defend and hold ANTHC, and its affiliates and subcontractors, and their directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, licensors and representatives, harmless from and against any and all claims, lawsuits, liability, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from or relate to: (a) your use of the LEO Network; (b) your breach of your obligations under the Terms of Use or any representation, warranty or covenant made by you; (c) your violation of any applicable law, statute, ordinance, regulation or of any third-party's rights; or (d) claims asserted by third parties which, if proven, would place you in breach of the representations, warranties, covenants or other provisions contained in the Terms of Use. Intellectual Properties

A. Copyrights - ANTHC holds copyrights to many written works, recordings, videos, DVDs, and other materials produced and published by ANTHC. Copyright law grants to the owner of the copyright the exclusive right to use, copy, distribute, display and perform a copyrighted work. The owner of the copyright is the only entity that may grant permission for anyone to use, copy, distribute, display and perform the work.

B. Licensing – Generally, ANTHC limits the publication and distribution of products or other written documentation subject upon written approval and in accordance with applicable ANTHC policies and procedures.

C. Trademarks and Logos - ANTHC and the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) have trademarks and logos, and the guidelines for using them are based partly on legal considerations and partly on the nature of ANTHC and ANMC. Use of these marks on goods or services are prohibited unless prior written approval is obtained by ANTHC.
