Finland culls nearly 14,000 invasive raccoon dogs and minks

Finland removed about 11,000 raccoon dogs and 2,700 mink from 72 key waterfowl nesting areas between 2022 and 2024, sharply reducing predator pressure on birds. Researchers report fewer predation events and rising chick numbers, including Eurasian coots near Lake Bodom in Espoo.
