Scientists from the Institute of Biophysics SB RAS studied 28 lakes within 100 km of Norilsk over two years, finding hundreds of plankton and benthic species; six lakes near industrial zones yielded new species resistant to industrial impacts, with signs of acidification and oxygen deficiency.
