The lack of sea ice in Toksook Bay, has allowed for a uniquel sighting - a January beluga whale!

A rare whale skull discovered by an Inuit hunter in Greenland has been confirmed by a Canadian scientist to be the hybrid calf of a beluga father and a narwhal mother — otherwise known as a narluga.

Several sightings of dead baby belugas were reported on the shores of the community and in the area over the past few days.
