Severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings swept across southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, on June 9, bringing hail, heavy rain, and localized flooding. Environment Canada received unconfirmed reports of two tornadoes near Morris and Ste. Anne.
Amateur storm chaser Brian Penner captured video of debris spinning as a funnel cloud crossed the road near Dugald and Anola during a violent thunderstorm in southern Manitoba.
A narrow band of training thunderstorms dumped up to 135 mm of rain overnight, flooding streets, basements and businesses in Steinbach and nearby southern Manitoba communities. An animal rescue reported nearly two metres of water in its basement; infrastructure struggled to keep up but waters receded after the downpour ended.
