Heavy rains in late May triggered multiple small landslides in Ketchikan, Alaska, blocking roads and damaging a home but causing no injuries.

The Revilla Road slide came Sunday evening after heavy rains and initially trapped six vehicles with eight people inside, local officials said. Cleanup continued Monday.

An East Hillcrest Ave. home was damaged in a mudslide brought by heavy rains Thursday afternoon.

A storm that hit Southcentral Alaska on Saturday night led to flooding in Girdwood, a landslide on the Sterling Highway and left thousands of homes without power throughout the region on Sunday morning. More than a foot of rain fell in Girdwood by Sunday.

Areas of the Southeast Alaska city “received between 3 and 7 inches of rain” in 24 hours over the weekend. The sodden ground caused mudslides in some areas, and wrecked roads and ditches around John Street and Peters Lane in Douglas.

Heavy rain across Southcentral Alaska prompted flood watches for Anchorage, Eagle River, and much of the Kenai Peninsula. Forecasters warned of ponding on roads, localized urban flooding, rising creeks and streams, and possible rockfall along the Seward Highway.

Kodiak tied its record low for July 20 when the temperature dropped to 39 degrees early Monday morning. Warmer weather was forecast later in the week, with temperatures in the 70s possibly bringing a swing toward record warmth.
