A black bear was killed by wildlife officers after it wandered into Yellowknife's Northlands neighbourhood late Sunday night. Officers tried to haze the bear away with vehicles and loud noises, but it was not afraid and could not be driven off.

A woman was injured after being attacked by a brown bear while hiking on a narrow trail in South Anchorage. Wildlife officials said the group likely startled the bear, and her injuries were not life-threatening.
