Heavy rains in Southeast Alaska have caused landslides and blocked key roads on Prince of Wales Island. At least seven landslides have been reported, with Big Salt Lake Road being the only road connecting small communities on the island's north and east sides with the larger cities of Craig and Klawock. Local and state transportation crews are responding to the landslides, and officials are asking motorists to avoid affected roads until they are cleared. In addition, local officials are asking residents to conserve water as the city's reservoir has overflowed due to the heavy rains.
