Unusually mild temperatures in the Northwest Territories of Canada have caused the closure of the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road, which has turned into a muddy mess. The road is used by residents to travel to and from their communities, but a number of people have been unable to reach their destinations or have experienced significant delays due to the deteriorating conditions. The Infrastructure Department has released updated road conditions for other winter roads in the area, but drivers are warned that it is illegal to drive on a closed winter road and fines can be issued.
