Heavy rain causes flooding, mudslides in Juneau

city of Juneau, Alaska experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend, resulting in a flood advisory and mudslides in some areas. Residents in one area of Douglas were advised to evacuate. The National Weather Service reported that some areas received between 3 and 7 inches of rain in 24 hours, with the hardest hit areas receiving even more rain. The rain caused mudslides and damaged roads and ditches in some areas. The Juneau Police Department and the city of Juneau received several reports of flooding and landslides in the downtown and Douglas Island area.
