Anchorage, Alaska is still struggling to remove snow weeks after a trio of winter storms brought over 4 feet of snow to the city last month. While city officials say they have made progress in widening roads and hauling snow away, some residents and city leaders are unhappy with the amount of snow still covering some streets and sidewalks. The city had to first focus on major, busy streets before moving into neighborhoods, and crews have worked more than 20 days in a row, day and night, to clear snow. However, the city has faced challenges with contractors and equipment, and private snow haul contractors pushing snow into public roads. The city is currently accepting bids on an additional snow hauling contract and using trucks from a "miscellaneous services" contract to remove snow in cul-de-sacs. The Anchorage Assembly has scheduled a work session to discuss city snow removal efforts with members of the Bronson administration.
