66 dead seabirds of various species and in various states of decay have been found on a 28-mile stretch of beach near Sinuk River, Alaska. The cause of death is unknown, but the timing of the event in midsummer is unusual. In recent years, die-offs have increasingly occurred in the summer, with starvation being the cause. Samples of the birds will be sent to the National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin, for testing. People are being urged to report any finds of dead birds or marine species.
