Winter storm cuts off power to over 50,000 homes

A winter storm in Finland has caused power outages to over 50,000 homes, with heavy, wet snow knocking out electricity to thousands of customers in inland parts of southern and central Finland. The storm brought gusty winds and precipitation, with mild temperatures causing rain along the coast. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has posted a storm warning for the Gulf of Finland, with winds expected to blow at 23 metres per second and posing danger to marine traffic. Ship cancellations and delays have been reported, and very poor road conditions are expected due to the snowstorm.
