Glacier National Park is Losing its Glaciers

Glacier National Park is losing its glaciers at an alarming rate, with 39 of the 150 glaciers that existed in the late 19th century having shrunk by up to 85 percent in the past 50 years. This loss of glaciers could have a significant impact on the park's tourism and local ecosystems, as well as the global climate. Research has shown that human-caused warming is the primary cause of the glacier loss, with temperatures in the region having risen by 1.5 F since 1895.
