High winds, record-breaking warmth

High winds and record-breaking temperatures swept through Anchorage, Alaska on December 11, 2017. The temperature at the National Weather Service office in Anchorage reached 46 degrees, breaking the record for that date in the Anchorage area. The highest temperature on record for the month of December in the Anchorage area is 48 degrees. The winds caused power outages for some areas, and there were reports of crashes with injuries and vehicles in distress. Temperatures are expected to stay in the 30s and 40s through Wednesday.
