Birders in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands reported an unusual influx of Great Egrets in December, including the first documented sighting in Unalaska. Biologists suspect the birds were blown across the Pacific by Typhoon Halong, and many may struggle to survive due to limited food and bald eagle predation.
