A polar bear has repeatedly entered the village of Uelen (Chukotka) over two nights, breaking into outdoor meat storage boxes and taking pieces of walrus and other marine-animal meat. Residents and a “Bear Patrol” have been chasing it away with pyrotechnics, but the bear returns after dark.
