Four dead seals have washed up on a beach in Trinidad, California, with locals noting an unusual occurrence as they have not seen this many washed up at once in recent years.
Observation by Mike Brook:
On an approximately half mile stretch of beach in Trinidad, CA, there are currently four dead seals washed up. I've been to this beach many times the last few years and do not recall seeing even a single washed up seal. Other people I have spoken to that have lived here a long time do not recall this many washed up at once. The most recent one washed up on September 17th, but the others seem to have been there for weeks or even months.

A number of local news sources in California (linked to this post) have indicated that the widespread death of sea lions this summer is likely due to Leptospirosis, a bacterial infection.
