An anemometer on a Kodiak Electric Association turbine tower atop Pillar Mountain recorded a 158 mph wind gust on Thursday night, far exceeding other local readings. Despite hurricane-force winds affecting Kodiak Island and surrounding marine waters, only limited damage and no injuries were reported.
