Two insect species new to science found in the Teno River watershed

Utsjoki, Lapland, Finland

Researchers found two chironomid (non-biting midge) species previously unknown to science in tributaries of the Teno River in northern Finland (the Utsjoki and Vetsijoki rivers). The discovery highlights that northern freshwater ecosystems may still contain undocumented biodiversity.
