Finland’s winter-to-date coldest temperature, -41.5°C, was recorded in Tulppio (Savukoski) on Thursday morning, while a nearby higher-elevation station measured -26.6°C. The Finnish Meteorological Institute attributes the difference to a strong surface temperature inversion under calm, high-pressure conditions.
