Fire crews responded to a wind-driven grass (vegetation) fire burning on a hillside above Captains Bay Road in Unalaska, prompting a road closure and warnings for residents to avoid the area.

A vegetation fire near Elliðavatn burned about 32 hectares, and firefighters said rough terrain and strong winds made suppression difficult. Authorities warned that dry, frost-damaged grass (sinu) and continued dry weather could keep wildfire risk elevated into spring.

A wildfire at Oksvoll in Ørland, Norway burned most of a 4.5 km² area, prompting evacuations and road closures. Authorities report no injuries; one outbuilding burned and power outages affected local residents.

Firefighters extinguished fires on Benbecula and Harris as they warn of extreme risk. SFRS said the fires had broken out in vegetation that had died off since last year and then been dried out by frost and low temperatures.

A fire chief in the south-west said firefighters were called to several fires a day in recent days, saying that all were caused by people who ignored warnings.
