Breaking Up is Hard To Do In our last edition we focused on the outcomes of a big snow year in the Northwest Territories, and break-up related flooding on the Mackenzie River. Last week it was Alaska's turn when an ice jam downstream of Buckland caused flooding unlike any seen in twenty years. This week, the setting is communities along the Little Anyyu River in Chukotka. A big snow year and rapid warm up is putting communities on high alert for flooding. 	Buckland hit with heavy flooding from river ice break-up Buckland, Alaska, United States Wesley Early / KOTZ Radio 720 AM / May 13, 2021 An ice jam caused by warming spring temperatures near the village of Buckland has left most of the town underwater and cut off access to the airport road.
