A tropical night was recorded in Reipå, Meløy, Nordland on 12 September, with temperatures staying above 20°C and a minimum of 20.4°C—the latest such event ever measured in Northern Norway. September temperatures across the region are 4–5°C above normal, aided by warm southerly air, wind, and föhn effects.

During a prolonged heatwave with temperatures above 30°C (86 F) in Vindelfjällen, hikers on Kungsleden are shifting their treks to early morning and nighttime to escape daytime heat.

An accidental oil spill from Equinor’s Njord A platform on New Year’s Eve has resulted in raw oil clumps reaching the Nordland coast, prompting a major cleanup effort. Authorities and Equinor are urgently mapping the spread and mobilizing significant resources to prevent further environmental damage.

A landslide has closed busy highway 80 between Fauske and Bodø. The Nordland Line has also been affected. The weather has been very bad with large amounts of rainfall in Nordland today. There have been snow and slush avalanches in several places in the county, and a number of road and train sections have been closed due to avalanches.

All farmer Arild Stenhaug is left with is tiny berries that cannot be sold. He believes the cause is climate change. "We have to listen to a farmer who has lost everything," says a researcher.

Millions of small black flies have taken over mountains and hiking trails. "I thought it was horrible," says Pernille Frøskeland.

Tine Aastrøm Lorentzen was on a trip in Rana and noticed what she thought was a bumblebee, but it was suspiciously silent. "It looked like a crossover of a bumblebee and a butterfly. I studied it more closely and found that I had to film this, because I had never seen anything like this before," she tells NRK. The latin name of that insect is Hemaris tityus.

Rana municipality has been warned that there have been several avalanches in Stormdalen near Skarpneset. This has led to large amounts of water accumulating – potentially triggering a flood.

The cold and dry weather continues without relief. At Nordnes in Saltdal, less precipitation has never been recorded. Now more and more people are experiencing both pipes and sewage freezing.

400 residents lost the road connection and several houses were evacuated when a seven-mile-long ice stopper came loose, carrying large masses of ice and water. Today, the municipality is on inspection to look at the damage.
