A powerful thunderstorm swept through Edmonton on July 26, bringing about 30 mm of rain in an hour, winds up to 94 km/h, flooding, fallen trees, power outages, and road closures. The city is still cleaning up and has applied for provincial disaster assistance after a record rainy summer.

Alberta was hit by record-setting rain, with flooding reported in parts of the province including Edmonton. The unusual downpour followed recent summers more commonly marked by wildfire smoke.
